Your Booking at Scale Hill

Updated Tuesday 25th May 2021

We were delighted to re-open and welcome guests back as of Monday 12th April 2021.

Visiting Scale Hill

If you are planning to visit Scale Hill, please rest assured, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and have been following developments in the Government’s guidance. This has continued throughout the pandemic since March 2020, and we promise to do all that we can, assuring you that we are and will remain COVID-19 secure.

Due to the developing nature of the situation and guidance, our procedures and operations are continuously reviewed and promptly updated when required. The information that we are sharing with you about how we operate may therefore be subject to review and change without notice.

We politely request the support and assistance of our valued guests in this newly changed environment, so that together we manage the COVID-19 health crisis and ensure that we continue to provide a welcome retreat at Scale Hill where our guests and team can feel comfortable and safe.

If in the unfortunate event, you or your household experience COVID-19 symptoms such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste and smell, we must ask that you follow the Government advice, remain at home, and contact us to allow your stay to be rescheduled.

We further ask that any guest who has arrived in the UK from overseas within the 14 days prior to their arrival at Scale Hill to contact us in advance of travelling to the Lake District, to discuss their reservation.

What To Expect During Your Stay

We know that you may have questions about what to expect at Scale Hill, so to reassure guests, here's a bit more about what we’re doing to keep our visitors safe during their stay at Scale Hill.

Firstly, we are ensuring that the property at Scale Hill that you have booked will be cleaned and sanitised to the Covid Ready Guidelines from PASC UK, the AA and Visit England.

On arrival, the Cottages will be open and ready for you and the cleaned keys will be in the Cottage. Please try not to arrive before 4pm so that we can complete the enhanced cleaning under the guidance we have been issued.

There is always someone around on site, so if there are any problems, please come to ‘Reception’ at the Main House, and we’ll be there to answer your questions.

Since there will be limited capacity in Restaurants and Pubs, we recommend that you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Take-aways will also need advance orders to allocate collection slots. Supermarkets providing online deliveries will also need to be booked in advance - at times, we have found it very difficult to get an online delivery to our small valley, so sometimes it is best for one member of your party to visit the local towns, Keswick or Cockermouth to collect anything you might need. Do look at our Recommendations page which has links to some of our favourite places in the area.

It is also worth noting that a lot of visitor attractions may still be shut or on reduced hours, so do please check in advance before setting off for a day out. Some attractions are only accepting online ticket sales, so you may have to book a visit online, and in advance for some activities. Nevertheless, we are open for business and ready to welcome you to Scale Hill and our beautiful valley.
